How to scan a Chromebook
Tips from real classroom scanning experience
1
Find the QR code on the bottom label
Flip the Chromebook over. Look for the square pixel pattern — not the striped barcode beside it.
2
Hold closer than you think — about 10–15 cm
The DS2208 reads QR codes best at close range. Most people hold it too far away at first.
3
Good lighting matters
Avoid glare on the label surface. The laser is bright but still needs contrast to read the QR pattern cleanly.
4
One clean trigger pull — don't hold it
A single trigger pull fires one scan. Holding the trigger can cause the scanner to fire twice and corrupt the data.
✓
A perfect scan shows serial + model + manufacturer
If the detected card only shows a serial number with no model, hit Clear and scan the QR code again — you likely caught the 1D barcode instead.

No cart selected
Create a cart above and select it to start scanning devices. A cart represents the physical cart in your classroom — it can be shared between classes.
Track anything in your school. Create custom inventory categories for iPads, calculators, headphones, gym equipment, instruments, consumables like paper — whatever needs tracking. Each category you create appears as its own tracked list.

Create your first category — iPads, calculators, headphones, gym equipment, paper supplies, or anything else you need to track.
Label Making
Generate and print barcode labels for your textbooks. Labels open in a new window so the print is always clean — barcodes fully rendered before printing, only the subject you choose.
🏷️
Pro Tip: Durable Labels
Use clear packing tape over printed labels to make them classroom-proof. Cut along the dashed lines — labels are sized to fit inside a textbook front cover.
