About
About Dewi.
Dewi was built by a Grade 6 teacher, not a software company.
My classroom library had grown too large to keep track of by memory — I no longer knew what books I actually had, especially from a specific author. My printed checkout sheets fell apart within a few months of the school year: pages fell off the clipboard, got reattached in the wrong order, and I lost track of which student had which book and when it was due. On top of that, I had no way to see whether students were reading books that actually matched their reading level — the "just right" books that help them grow as readers. All three problems were equally frustrating, and I didn't have time to manage any of them by hand.
I looked for something that already solved this. What I found either missed the classroom-specific details I needed, or cost more than made sense for a teacher's budget — on top of yet another login to manage in a school day already full of them. So I built it myself.
Dewi handles classroom library organization and checkout tracking, textbook and classroom device inventory, and a growing set of literacy and writing tools built to get students writing by hand again.
I use Dewi in my own classroom every day, and I keep improving it based on what I actually run into — plus feedback from other teachers using it.
I'm a full-time classroom teacher first, and a software builder second. Dewi is built by someone who has to make it work in a real classroom, not just on paper.
A few practical details
Dewi runs on Freemius, an established subscription platform used by software makers worldwide, so your payment information is never handled directly by Dewi. You can read the Privacy Policy, Terms & Conditions, and Student Data & FERPA pages for details on how student and classroom data is handled.
